It’d be phenomenal. amazing, stupendous, miiiighty fine to win any prize but for me it’s the adventure of it. The motion, doing something, is itself exciting and motivating. Plus, the judges are successful musicians and industry execs so that’s good exposure. Exciting, whatever happens!

There will be 8 winners from ReverbNation (which I belong to and through which I learned of the opportunity) who will be part of a Sing4theTrrees compilation CD. If I recall the info correctly, one grand prize winner also gets moolah. I wouldn’t  mind that.

The judge is Chick Leavell, the keyboardist for the Rolling Stones. I am a huge Stones fan as probably are all contestants. Irrelevant as far as chances to win go but had to say…love them.

I read in the info about the contest that it’s intended to help (fund raise, must be) with a serious situation I wasn’t aware existed. Some beetle is ravaging our forests and a lot of them have been lost! Healthy forests are crucial to the entire ecosystem, to avoiding fires, etc. The existence of flourishing forests is crucial to things like topsoil and how arable the land is, and so on. So this made sense to try for this contest. Hopefully I can help via my art in the solution to this threat to our forests and those who depend upon them and live around them.

I’m in complete heaven doing this. Total fun and focus…everybody should do whatever matters the most to them, whatever they feel most suited for and thrilled by.  Living your true life’s purpose magnifies your spirituality, or, actually, it liberates the spirit you are.

The lyrics on the player are small, hard to read and  since I don’t know now how to enlarge the view of them, I put the songs’ lyrics in posts. A couple people told me that they had trouble hearing the lyrics because of their computer sound. This will help.

There night had left its memory,
lingering thought, mist in the woods.

Through sturdy boughs and over ground,
caressing all, forgotten tryst,
the mist to me more deeply true
than trunks concealed in foggy hue.

More woods than the very woods itself,
mist more real than forest caught
within its glowing, hovering soul,
soul of the woods, tales to unfold.

The mist to me revealed its heart
and I could see; it concealed not
but stirred abroad its melodies…
deepest songs of misty me.

For I did live and then I died.
Another morn, I started new.
Like forest steeped in evening’s dew
and lightly posing on my mind.

Have we wandered? Have we wondered?
Have we lingered on the thought?

Nudged now by vague or firm recall,
familiarity warms and beckons all.
Mist of my lives stirring the mind…
this isn’t the first and only time.

When I’m a’down, I decide not to frown
but to smile and a’sing it right from the heart!
And its’ more than miracle, decide you’re up here
and you’ll see you’ve got wings
and you’re up the chart.

This is a song that I hum and I whistle
when I sing myself right on up the scale.
We bypass fear — and my dear, who needs fear? —
and we find ourselves soaring with open sail.
